Kazi pilot

Terms of use

Last updated: 2 October 2026

These terms explain the basic rules for using Kazi during its pilot. Kazi connects workers with employers who post online gigs; it does not promise that a worker will be selected or receive work.

Accounts

Keep your account details accurate and protect your password. Use your own account, and do not impersonate another person or share account access. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.

You may report another account through the in-site report form. Kazi admins review these reports and may deactivate an account when appropriate. Deactivation blocks sign-in; an admin can restore the account after review. Accounts with no sign-in for 180 days may be flagged for admin review and are not automatically deleted.

Rules for employers

  • Describe the work, requirements, deadline, and expected pay accurately.
  • Do not ask workers to pay a fee to apply, unlock a gig, or receive work.
  • Do not request passwords, M-Pesa PINs, one-time codes, deposits, or money transfers from workers.
  • Review applications and submitted work using the requirements you gave workers.

Rules for workers

  • Read the gig details and confirm the work, deadline, and pay with the employer before starting.
  • Submit work that you are permitted to provide and follow the employer’s stated requirements.
  • Never pay to apply or share your password, M-Pesa PIN, one-time code, or full banking credentials.
  • Do not deposit or forward money for someone else, or install software you do not trust.

Applications and work

Applying does not guarantee acceptance. Kazi records application decisions and work-submission statuses, but the worker and employer should communicate clearly about the task and its requirements. External opportunities link to other websites and are subject to those sites’ own terms and availability.

Contact details and reports

A worker may provide an M-Pesa contact number for an application after the employer accepts it. The number is shared with that employer for the gig. Kazi does not currently send money to M-Pesa; wallet entries are records in the app, not confirmation of an M-Pesa transfer. A payment problem report records a concern for follow-up; marking it reviewed means it was checked, not that Kazi verified or transferred a payment.

Premium plans

The premium plans shown on Kazi are marked “Coming soon” and cannot currently be purchased. Standard gig search and applications remain available without a subscription.

Safe use of Kazi

Do not use Kazi to post misleading, unlawful, or unsafe work. If an account seems suspicious, use the in-site account report form where available. For other concerns, email the Kazi support team at [email protected]. The in-site account form is for reporting a user account, not reviewing payment complaints.

Pilot notice

Kazi is being piloted and features may change. These terms are an initial pilot version and should be reviewed and completed by the Kazi operator before the service expands publicly.
